Last year's community survey responses highlighted a need to expand ERBM's after-school options. This winter/spring season, we are excited to be offering four full days of After-School Fun!

Trading Tablets for Tools

The "after-school gap" is often a juggling nightmare for working parents. Our goal for After-School Fun is to create a space where kids aren't just waiting to be picked up or vegging out in front of a screen, but can burn off energy, ignite creativity, and develop physical and social skills.

After-School Fun Sessions

Two children smiling at a table, holding colorful clay crafts. One has a gnome, the other a green sculpture. Classroom setting with window.
  • Maker Monday: Maker Monday is an afternoon of hands-on, screen-free fun. Each week we'll have a new project to spark the imagination of kids who love to craft and create with friends.

Child swimming in a pool wearing pink goggles. Sunlight reflects on the water, creating a bright and playful atmosphere.
  • Splashy Tuesday: Splashy Tuesday gives kids the opportunity to enjoy healthy movement at the MRC Pool.

Children play with colorful slime at tables in a classroom. The background has snowflake decorations, creating a playful, creative mood.
  • STEM Lab Wednesday: STEM Lab Wednesday invites kids to dive into the world of science, technology, engineering, and math. Hands-on projects and fun experiments will foster curiosity, build problem-solving skills, and inspire young inventors and explorers.

Four children sitting at tables hammering wood pieces. A classroom with blue walls and snowflake decorations. Focused mood.
  • NEW! Tools & Trades Thursday: At Tools & Trades Thursday, kids will explore a new practical life skill through a fun, hands-on project each week. From sewing to gardening to building and more, your child will gain valuable skills in a creative and engaging environment.

The real magic

While sessions are filling up faster than ever, the real magic is watching kids learn to trust themselves, explore new ideas, enjoy the process. A great example is this session's collaboration between our Maker Monday and Tools & Trades Thursday classes to create string art.

While the projects turned out extremely cool, the skills developed behind the scenes are even better. Our Tools & Trades kids created the nail boards (above), improving hand-eye coordination, and our Maker Monday kids used different colors and weights of string to practice fine-motor skills and make colorful creations.
