ERBM Recreation & Park District is celebrating Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
Parks and recreation significantly benefits small rural communities like ours by providing residents with accessible recreational opportunities, fostering a sense of community, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. ERBM offers a variety of programs and activities year-round, from youth sports to adult fitness classes, which improve physical and mental well-being.
Additionally, parks and green spaces serve as communal areas for social gatherings, family outings, and community events, strengthening social ties and enhancing the quality of life for all residents. In United States, 92 percent of adults say they experience a positive mental health boost after spending time at their local parks, while living close to parks and other recreation facilities is consistently related to higher physical activity levels for both adults and youth.
