Work Hours: Yearly; As Assigned

Salary Range: $60,278year/ - $87,406/year

Desired Hiring Range: $73,720/year - $81,120/year

Position Purpose:

The Parks & Facilities Maintenance Supervisor contributes to the District by performing work directly related to general and systems operations and maintenance of District owned and leased properties including but not limited to, the Meeker Recreation Center, maintenance shop, Paintbrush Park and athletic fields, and Philip and Dorcas Jensen Park and trails system. The Parks & Facilities Maintenance Supervisor customarily and regularly directs the work of and supervises multiple employees in accomplishing various skilled custodial and maintenance tasks and repairs, or improvements projects for efficient facilities and parks operations. The Parks & Facilities Maintenance Supervisor regularly makes recommendations regarding the hiring, termination, advancement, promotion, and other change of status of employees under his/her supervision, which are given particular weight by the Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Supervises maintenance and custodial staff; applies advanced safety standards and operations knowledge to determine work assignments and schedules, provides oversight and observation of directed work, evaluates overall performance and composes annual Performance Appraisals;

  2. Completes administrative duties to ensure the efficacy and efficiency of daily operations; submits requests for expenditures, coordinates with administrative staff to develop and implement services and projects contracts, track assets and inventory, retains records, and provide analysis for budget and or project development;

  3. Directly oversees, and or coordinates with other supervisory staff, to ensure the efficient operations of various parks and facilities systems; including but not limited to, HVAC, pool dehumidification, pumps and filtration, irrigation, and information technology/security cameras;

  4. Implements and monitors preventative maintenance and department related safety and security programs.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assists with improvement projects analysis and proposal development, coordinates with contractors to implement projects;

  2. Coordinates with other supervisory staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the Meeker Recreation Center and recreation programming; demonstrates positive internal and external customer service and acts as a primary contact to address technical or complex customer service situations or inquiries;

  3. Demonstrates initiative, appropriate for the position, that supports the District’s vision, mission, and operational goals;

  4. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of, and compliance with, the District’s rules, policies, and procedures, as contained in the District’s handbooks, manuals, and Department/Division handbooks;

  5. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager or the Executive Director to ensure the efficient operation of the department and District.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Must be 21 years of age;

  2. Two (2) or more years’ experience in the specific department field and two (2) or more years’ supervisory experience;

  3. Possess at the time of hire/promotion (or obtain within 90 days) and maintain valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification (District provides training);

  4. Possess at the time of hire, or obtain within 6 months, AFO certification (District provided);

  5. Possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s license;

  6. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job;

  7. Ability to work and to be “on call” flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Possess certifications directly related to the position including but not limited to, HVAC systems, pumps or irrigation systems, playground safety inspector, herbicides/pesticides, trails or turf management, plumbing or electrical;

  2. Proficiency with Maintenance Management Systems;

  3. Proficiency with information technology/building safety and security systems;

  4. Proficiency with facility cleaning/maintenance equipment, or processes;

  5. Ability to write, read, speak, and understand the Spanish language.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

The Parks & Facilities Maintenance Supervisor position requires physical and sedentary work in a variety of locations and conditions, including outdoor recreational areas and facilities, and typical office environments.

  1. This position will involve some sedentary work in an office environment;

  2. This position requires standing, running, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping/bending, lifting, squatting, pushing, pulling, crawling, jumping, sliding, climbing, pinching, gripping, reaching over head, reaching away from the body, and repetitive motion;

  3. Must possess the ability to lift items 50-75 lbs. frequently and in excess of 100 lbs. occasionally;

  4. Will be required to work in all weather conditions;

  5. Work may be performed under hazardous and adverse conditions, including but not limited to, slippery and uneven surfaces, proximity to moving mechanical equipment, water, electrical currents, and high places;

  6. This position may involve periods of high physical, mental and/or emotional stress.
