to outline the basic requirements, duties and general responsibilities of the position of Maintenance
Technician I &; II. This position is “at will”, which means the District may terminate the employment
relationship at any time and for any reason, subject only to the requirements of Federal and State law.
Similarly, the employee may terminate the employment relationship without notice at any time for any
reason.
Position Summary:

Maintenance Technician Level I Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance
Technician I position and do not constitute an all-inclusive list. A Maintenance I Technician works
under supervision and may receive detailed instructions and training for assignments, if needed. The
Maintenance I Technician is expected to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job
duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities may also be modified with additions, deletions or
changes as required in assisting and obtaining organizational goals and objectives.

Using safe working methods and guided by operations standards, performs semi-skilled facilities tasks including but not limited to; plumbing and electrical repairs, pump maintenance and repairs, HVAC and aquatics systems operations analysis and adjustments, equipment preventative maintenance and repairs, custodial and other related tasks as assigned;

Using safe working methods and guided by operations standards, performs a variety of turf, landscaping, and trails activities including but not limited to; mowing, weed trimming, debris removal, trails maintenance, weed spraying, tree care, ornamentals care, athletic field prep and maintenance, irrigation, and snow plowing/shoveling, and other related tasks as assigned;

Operates and maintains a variety of equipment including but not limited to; mowers, trimmers, ATVs, vehicles, tractors, plows, power tools, hand tools and related facilities equipment; additionally, operates desktop computers and printers and is proficient in the use of email and other work-related software or applications;

Adheres to protocols and other established policies and procedures related to all safety and operations standards including; the proper use of chemicals, equipment, personal protective equipment, and the initiation of incident or other issues reporting as required;

In coordination with the Recreation Department, assists and provides logistical support for the setting up and tearing down of programs and activities equipment/materials;

As assigned, performs various custodial duties or assists with custodial projects;

As assigned, provides “on-call” support and responds to work requests, including those of an urgent or serious nature;

Performs basic record keeping and reporting procedures to ensure parts and materials ordered, inventoried, and paid for in a timely manner;

Demonstrates accountability and dependability in performing duties; demonstrates initiative appropriate for the position and that supports the District’s mission and operational goals;

Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of, and compliance with the District’s rules, policies, and procedures, as contained in the District’s handbooks and manuals;

Perform other duties as assigned by management staff and the Executive Director.
Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age;
-
Possess a high school diploma or GED;
-
Possess at the time of hire/promotion or obtain within 90 days and maintain a valid AED, adult and child CPR and First Aid certifications;

Possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s license with a good driving record;
-
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job;

Shift availability considerations:
-
Works early morning, evening, split-shift, and/or weekend shifts
-
Works a variety of shift times; covers shifts on short notice
-
Works in other departments as needed;

Perform on-call duty, as assigned by Supervisory Staff and the Executive Director.
Desired Qualifications and Requirements:

Ability to write, read, speak and understand the Spanish language;

Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Experience with Maintenance Management Systems.
Maintenance Technician Level II Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician II and do not constitute an all-inclusive list. These duties and responsibilities may also be modified with additions, deletions or changes as required to assist in obtaining organizational goals and objectives.

Demonstrates ability to consistently meet or exceed expectations in performance of the Maintenance Technician I duties as described above (see #1-#11) and;
-
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of or skill sets in one or more of the following areas; plumbing, irrigation, electrical, carpentry, athletic field prep, trail maintenance, mechanics, snow removal and herbicide application; or,
-
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of or experience with HVAC or aquatics operations systems; or has obtained and maintained a formal certification in HVAC or aquatics operations; and,
-
As assigned by the Supervisor, provides appropriate support, work direction and oversight to other Parks and Facilities Department staff regarding work safety and efficient project/task and or training implementation;

Demonstrates an ability to work independently and efficiently to consistently generate high quality work products and complete projects with minimum supervision;

Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
This position involves a substantial amount of physical indoor and outdoor work in and around the District’s facilities and premises, but also will involve some administrative work in an office environment.

Frequent physical activity is required; lifting 50-75 lbs. frequently, and in excess of 100 lbs. on occasion; work with hands above shoulder height with up to 40 lbs., push and pull heavy weights in excess of 100 lbs. on a regular basis;
-
Some sedentary office work performing routine administrative matters may be required; sitting at a desk for periods of time, working for extended periods on a computer, talking on the telephone; indoor environment with high temperatures, humidity, moisture and noise;

This position may require standing for an extended period of time, and walking, kneeling, sitting, climbing, bending, twisting, stooping/bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, pinching, gripping, reaching over head, reaching away from body, working at various heights, confined spaces and repetitive motion;

Working in all weather conditions; tasks may be performed under hazardous conditions, including but not limited to slippery and uneven surfaces, proximity to moving mechanical equipment, electrical currents, high places and confined spaces;

This position demands frequent use of sensory activities such as talking, seeing, hearing, smelling, feeling (identifying objects by touch), depth perception and color vision;

This position will involve periods of high mental and/or emotional stress;

Work may result in exposure to:
-
Gases, fumes, odors, mists and dusts from fertilizer, herbicide, pesticides and other hazardous materials requiring wearing of appropriate protective equipment/clothing;
-
Dust, pollen, mold, dirt and weeds; possible interaction with bees, insects, snakes and other wildlife;
-
High noise levels requiring the wearing of hearing protection.
