The Meeker Recreation Center will be closed from May 4 though May 25 for HVAC replacement, upgrades to the pool and fitness room, and deep cleaning.
Although the facility shuts down each year for thorough cleaning and repairs, this year's closure is extended to allow for a much-needed HVAC replacement. To compensate for the downtime, our Guest Services team will be adding one month to all active memberships.
Here is a look at some of our planned projects:
HVAC Replacement and Automation System: We are upgrading our outdated system to a high-efficiency unit. With the addition of a new "Building Automation System" application, we can more effectively control pool temperatures, hot showers, and ventilation. This will help minimize unexpected closures and expensive repairs while enhancing energy efficiency.
Pool environment improvements: Keeping stable temperatures and humidity in the pool area has consistently been a challenge. Instead of opting for a $1.5 million roof replacement and a six-month closure, our team has devised an effective mitigation strategy costing around $150,000. This involves repairing soffits, adding insulation, and upgrading the PoolPak unit to achieve more comfortable and consistent conditions while ensuring efficient operations.
Enhancements to the Fitness Room: We are taking out equipment that is not being used and introducing new equipment based on last year’s survey requests, updating the flooring, and adopting a new floor plan to optimize your workout area.
Alongside these major projects, our team will thoroughly clean and sanitize all parts of the facility, drain and clean the pools, and update the front desk area to enhance service. We will reopen with summer hours Tuesday, May 26.
We look forward to welcoming you back to a better, safer, and sparkling clean facility! If you have any questions, please call the Front Desk at 970-878-3403.
