Position Purpose:
Under supervision of the Administrative Services Supervisor, the Administrative Operations Specialist performs a variety of routine and repetitive human resources, financial, and guest services tasks in the efficient daily operations of the Meeker Recreation Center and administration of the District.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs routine human resources tasks, including but not limited to; preparing and processing payroll, processing data associated with new and terminated employees, updating and maintaining employee payroll and benefits records, assisting with implementation of the hiring process, and preparing related documents, compiling data and generating a variety of reports, and as assigned, assisting with personnel management activities and projects;
Assists in the workload of high-level HR functions and comprehensive assignments under the general supervision of the Administrative Supervisor and the Administrative Services Manager;
Performs routine financial and related administrative tasks, including but not limited to; preparing and processing accounts payable and accounts receivable, preparing or reviewing service and minor project contracts; compiling data and generating a variety of reports, document filing, and as assigned, assisting with other administrative activities and projects;
On an as needed basis, performs a variety of guest services front desk operation tasks such as processing daily drop ins and other point of sale transactions; assisting patrons with program registration, reservations, and other inquiries; and monitoring the facility;
Consistently maintains a high level of professionalism and confidentiality;
Operates a variety of equipment, including but not limited to; computers, printers and copy machines, and multi-line phones;
Utilizes a variety of highly technical computer software applications.
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
Demonstrates initiative, appropriate for the position, that supports the District’s vision, mission, and operational goals;
Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of, and compliance with, the District’s rules, policies, and procedures, as contained in the District’s handbooks, manuals, and department/division handbooks;
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Administrative Supervisor or other designated leadership staff to ensure the efficient operation of the department and District.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be 21 years of age;
Possess or working towards acquiring a high school diploma or GED;
Possess at the time of hire/promotion (or obtain within 90 days) and maintain valid Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification (District provides training);
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at a level adequate to perform the job;
Ability to work during regular weekday operations hours and/or occasionally to cover early mornings, evenings, or weekend shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) or more years of experience and or certifications or demonstrated knowledge (skills) in the human resources or accounting fields;
Possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s license;
Ability to write, read, speak, and understand the Spanish language.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
This position primarily involves sedentary, administrative work; however, an Administrative Operations Specialist must also be able to assist patrons and other staff in all areas of the recreation center.
Moderate physical activity is required; for example, the ability to lift items in excess of 30 pounds occasionally and up to 15 pounds frequently;
This position requires sitting or standing at a desk for an extended period of time, working for extended periods on a computer, talking on the telephone, standing, walking, and reaching away from the body, and repetitive motion;
This position demands frequent use of sensory activities such as talking, seeing, hearing, and depth perception and color vision;
This position involves constant, positive interaction with all District staff, Board members, volunteers, patrons, and the public;
This position involves periods of high mental and/or emotional stress.
