Life Skills 101
Whether you want to learn how to change a tire, balance a budget, fill out a job application, or prepare for an interview, Life Skills 101 is for you! This series of classes is designed to increase knowledge and skills necessary for everyday living and emphasizes goal-setting, decision making, problem solving, communication, and healthy lifestyles. Each week features a new lesson. Masks required.

Learn safe and responsible firearm handling. Persons born after January 1, 1949 applying for a hunting license in Colorado must have a hunter safety card which can be obtained by passing this class. In addition to successful completion of the written test, full participation in all three days is required, including safe gun handling and shooting techniques as demonstrated by each participant at a shooting range on Sunday afternoon. Optional Saturday lunch (pizza, veggies, dessert, and a drink) can be purchased by February 26 for $6.00. A MRC van will be available for transportation to the shooting range for a limited number of participants, if needed. Masks required.

Red Cross Certified Babysitter's Training Course
The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course is to provide those planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants develop leadership skills, learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves safe, help children behave, and learn about basic child care and first aid. This training is designed for youths ages 11-16. The cost of the class includes a manual and key chain mask and glove kit. Masks required.

This dog and people-friendly class will provide beginning-level dog obedience. Coursework includes relationship building, basic commands, leash manners, hand signals, games, tricks, and effective solutions for problem behaviors. Participants must complete a dog behavioral questionnaire and submit vaccine records (rabies, distemper, and bordetella) at time of registration. Instruction may take place outside; dress accordingly. One dog per person. This program is a contracted service, therefore it is non-refundable.
• Dogs must be on a leash at all times during the class.
• Dogs must be friendly towards other dogs, children, and adults.
• Dogs must never have shown aggression.
• Female dogs must not be in heat.
• No wolf hybrids allowed.

Red Cross Certified Lifeguarding Course
This class provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. An American Red Cross Learning Center course link and digital manual will be provided. Eight hours of online coursework must be successfully completed prior to April 30th.
Must pass a pre-course swimming skills test. Call the Aquatics Division before April 20th to schedule.
Pre Course Skills: Swim 300 yards continuously. Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Complete a timed event within 1 minute and 40 seconds starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder.
